The Toronto Blue Jays farm system isn’t in a great spot.
On Friday, MLB Pipeline released their pre-season farm system rankings, with the Blue Jays ranking 27th in the league. It’s a slight drop from where they ranked in the mid-season update, 24th.
The Blue Jays have just two prospects in the Top 100, Arjun Nimmala who ranks 86th, and Trey Yesavage who ranks 87th. Moreover, MLB Pipeline recently released their top 30 Blue Jays prospect list and there are some interesting names.
Although Nimmala and Yesavage are the two prospects in the top 100, Orelvis Martínez, Ricky Tiedamann, Alan Roden, Jake Bloss, and Josh Kasevich could also be considered “fringe” top 100 players. They also have MLB-ready prospects, such as Martínez and Will Wagner.
There are a handful of starting pitchers in or around the top 10, such as Landen Maroudis, Kendry Rojas, Khal Stephen, Fernando Pérez, Johnny King IV, Adam Macko, and Brandon Barriera.
Some of the players in the Blue Jays’ top 30 were acquired in the summer, either through the draft or trade. They include Charles McAdoo (14th), Sean Keys (20th), RJ Schreck (21), and Carson Messina (24th). It’s worth noting that Eddison Paulino, Cutter Coffey, Yohendrick Piñango, and Josh Rivera fell off the top 30 list.
There are three new arrivals to the top 30 list as well. Right-handed pitcher Lazaro Estrada ranks 26th and has an average fastball and slider with an above-average curveball. Expect him to start in the upper minors and be able to impact the Blue Jays’ big league team as soon as this season.
Another new arrival is Peyton WIlliams.  The 6’5”, 255 lb first baseman has some of the best power in the organization and was graded with a 60 power. However, he’s a solid hitter as well with limited speed. Expect him to start in Double-A this season.
Lastly, Angel Bastardo ranks as their 27th-best prospect. Acquired in the Rule 5 draft, Bastardo features an average fastball, curveball, slider, and an above-average changeup. He underwent Tommy John surgery in the summer and should be ready at some point this summer.
With the Blue Jays picking eighth overall in the 2025 draft, they’ll get a notable boost in MLB Pipeline’s mid-season update. However, it’s worth noting that they don’t have their second-round pick as they lost it by signing Anthony Santander.
